Who can enroll at MGAL?
MGAL has an open enrollment policy. Admission is open to all students, regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, ability, or economic status. Any student is welcome to come to MGAL.
Do I have to do an interdistrict transfer, or an application to apply to MGAL?
No, you do not have to complete an interdistrict transfer or an application to apply to MGAL. After our charter petition is authorized, more information about our enrollment can be found on our Enroll a Student page.
What if my student does not identify as male or female? Can they still enroll at MGAL?
What if my student is transgender? How will they be included at this school?
In keeping with California law, we will provide gender neutral bathrooms for students who may prefer to use them. Transgender students will use the bathroom aligned with their gender rather than their assigned sex at birth, and they can participate in gender-specific programs aligned with their gender rather than those based on their assigned sex at birth.
What do you mean by “fully inclusive?”
MGAL will not exclude anyone based on their regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, ability, or economic status. Admission is open to all students. We are excited to embrace, celebrate and uplift the unique identities and cultures of all students.Inclusion will also be reflected in our classrooms: students will learn about the contributions of historically marginalized groups. Additionally, we will have fully inclusive classrooms. All MGAL scholars will be able to take challenging STEM and CTE courses and honors classes.
