Charter schools are free, public, open to all institutions. There are charter schools in 54 of California’s 58 counties, and rural, urban and suburban charter schools, and approximately 10% of California’s students are enrolled in charter schools.

Yes, charter schools are free, public institutions that are open to all.

2. Who can attend charter schools?

Any student that is eligible to attend public school in California can attend a charter school. Charter schools are open to all students.

3. How are charter schools created?

Charter schools are created through a charter petition, a written document that explains the intent behind the school. This document is then authorized by a governing body, such a local or county school board.

4. Can I see a copy of your charter petition?

Yes! The Magnolia Global Academy for Leaders charter petition is currently being written. After it is completed and authorized, it will be available to view on this website under the “Charter Petition” tab.

5. How are charter schools held accountable? How do you know that these schools are actually helping students?

Charter schools are held accountable by their authorizer. In the case of the Magnolia Global Academy for Leaders, Petaluma City Schools would hold our institution accountable to ensure student success.
